Restoration Plans and Map of Camp St Malo
After nearly 100 years, St. William's Lodge is in dire need of updating and a new purpose.
Plans to Rebuild Camp St. Malo
In 2016, the Archdiocese of Denver began major renovations to preserve Camp St. Malo following the fire, flood and devastating landslides. Improvements inside the St. Catherine of Siena Chapel have been completed! St. Williams Lodge is getting some major updating and will reopen as Camp St. Malo Visitor and Heritage Center. The surrounding landscape and parking areas will be improved. New features including the Pope Saint John Paul II Pavilion and Memorial Trail, are expected to be completed by the end of the 2017 summer season.
Plans to Build a new Retreat Center
In the spring of 2017, construction will begin on the Emmaus Catholic Retreat and Conference Center in Conifer, Colorado. This first phase of this project is expected to be completed by 2019. The Emmaus Catholic Retreat and Conference Center will include separate adult and youth retreat buildings, a program camping area, and small hermitage cabins.
The center will provide a religious benefit to those attending the retreat center including students and adults. Additionally, it will benefit the community by implementing a proper fire mitigation strategy which will include adding fire hydrants on the property. Lastly, it could serve as an emergency assistance refugee center.
